If you live in the City of Hyattsville or anywhere near Route 1, Franklins is not only a must, but a requirement. Mike Franklin had a vision and put it all on the line. Because of his store and what he accomplished, the City of Hyattsville is a better place to live and why it's continuing to grow.

It's the restaurant I would like to love, but don't. The food is okay as long as you "Keep It Simple," things that it is difficult to screw up. Many times after church in Hyattsville a group of my friends goes out to eat. Franklin's is roundly rejected. That being said, I've taken clients there for lunch and they've enjoyed it. The beer is good. Go there for atmosphere, beer and okay food. Don't expect a culinary experience though. It's also a great place to buy wine in the store part.

Anonymous Great Family Restaurant... 0 Jul 2 2007, 2:23 PM EDT by Anonymous

We eat, and shop, in Franklin’s about twice a month and have always had terrific service and great food and beverages. It’s our son’s favorite restaurant in the World. Mind you chez moi I’m probably more Rachael Ray than the Gordon Ramsey that several of you other critics appear to resemble. My expectations may be a tad more provincial!

I think it would be helpful, especially to Mike, if he knew which foods were not good in your opinion and why, and what date it was (and time) that you experienced the bad service or food. I think the Chef would want to know as well so that they can fix what is reported as not working. To just say, the food is not good, doesn't do it.

we have tried Franlins over the past few years many times because it is our locat restaraunt and we want to support it, but I tell you everytime I have eaten there I go way shaking my head! We never really enjoy it, but we keep coming back to try again--becasue we love that it is in Hyattsville and I am optimistic that the food will get better. One of the reviews said, " stick with a few good things and make them great". I agree!
