Hyattsville Promo Web Site - Content-Development Environment
February 28, 2007 -- The Marketing Task Force has commenced work on developing proposed content for the forthcoming Hyattsville promotional Web site previously approved by the City Council. The new site will be incorporated as a section of the wholly redesigned City of Hyattsville Web site, once the latter has been constructed and launched. The purpose of the promotional section is to improve the image of the City and provide useful information for prospective visitors, future residents and future businesses.
To facilitate the development of content for the Web site, the Task Force has decided to create a collaborative development environment on the My Hyattsville wiki. Task Force members initially will develop rough concepts for the major pages of the site, share these with each other and City staff, and then invite members of the general public to review the material, offer feedback, and make their own additions. Web design templates created by Hyattsville designer John Snogren as part of the recent municipal identity package are included as illustrations on several pages.

1. Can someone put up their initial ideas about what the content would be on each of these pages? For example, is Live going to highlight houses for sale with links to realtors, zillow.com, etc. Is it going to highlight all the different kinds of houses? Schools?
2. While not a big fan of Worship, I understand having it on there. If you are going to have page tabs on the top, I would prefer Community over Worship if it comes down to a space issue. 3. Will there be a page of Links about Hyattsville? HOPE listserve and this wiki? If I were thinking about moving somewhere, I would want to get on a listserve like the HOPE listserve first to get a feel for the community. 4. You may want to look at my "New to the City of Hyattsville" page which has a lot of links and Q&A in it for some ideas. 5. Hopefully you will add a page or a link about how the City is structured and why we are different from a non-incorporated City. Looking forward to seeing this! Great start...oh, not everyone reads latin so you may want to put it in english :) |
